Excerpts from Babydoll, Gangster Disciple - Oral HistoryPart V - Running the GangDuring those four months we ran the meeting, Brad and I. We presided over councils, we decided where money was spent, we collected dues, we ran the drugs. We kept the drugs, I kept a guns in my house. I actually kept the gun that was used in the murder at my house for awhile. I protected my crew from getting in trouble. I protected my crew from getting in fights. I protected my girls from harassment and sexual harassment that they experienced at school. We pretty much just hung out an became kinda like a family... When I first started with this crew again, they were handing out stupid violations for people. Like if you said donut, [derogatory word for Gangster Disciple] people got violations. And, I just think that’s bull shit. I think ya need to be more mature than that. I mean if you drop your rag [bandana that is considered a flag that represents that gang] and step on it on the floor, yeah I’m gonna beat the shit outa ya. If you say, "do you want a donut?" I’m not gonna hit you in the head for that. I just felt that that was ignorance on top of ignorance, so I was like, "no, you’re not running this like this." And Brad really listened to me. He never really questioned anything that I did and he never really argued with me. Even when his girlfriend was the highest-ranking female, they argued about every decision that was made regarding the females and he never questioned anything that I did... |
